the movie begins with an aging saketh ram who is at his death bed . saketh who is shown 89 years old recollects the era of 1940's when india was still under the british .
he was an archaeologist under mortimer wheeler with a good friend amjad as his colleague. fate has it that communal tensions peak up in calcutta , hindu muslim riots erupt .
sakeths bengali wife aparna dies at the hands of treacherous muslims who rape her and have her killed.
saketh unable to take this to his stride avenges aparnas death by killing the muslims who butchered his wife.
saketh joins soon after hindu fundamentalists lead by abhay , who beleive that gandhi is solely responsible for the partition of india, the muslims are being helped at the cost of million hindus.
they are to assasinate gandhi , since he gave away 62 crores to pakistan as treasury.
he soon marries mythili andmoves over to chennai. soon he encounters abhay again , he is sent on a mission to eliminate gandhi .
the plot follows on how he comes with a change of heart on gandhis views , embraces his philosophy for a lifetime . he then begs for forgiveness from gandhi , but to his agony gandhi is killed before hand by nathuram godse a hindu fanatic.
