as a story of its own it was good. since it is an adaptation of the novel five point someone, it didnt go so well with the audience.the character chatur
played by omi vaidya did not resemble the equivalent character of the novel . viru sahastrabuddhe played by boman irani was not potrayed correctly , he is not the dean of the college in the novel . the film seemed a little like the extension of taare zameen par . rancho is shown as a sympathetic , brilliant and amazing, whereas ryan of five point someone is a brilliant idiot .kareena kapoor looked like this typical medico with academically affluent background. It didn’t suit her at all , someone else could have been chosen to play the character . in the novel five point someone, hari the equivalent character “farhan” in the movie was to be the one who falls in love with the proffessors daughter. The brilliant guy played by rancho is supposed to flunk in the exams, in the
movie the equivalent character tops the batch. Although the message conveys that one should not run after victory but make it bow down to you, it sets a wrong example with the students and the youth who might take adverse decisions without realizing the price one has to pay. This movie is meant to be taken in the right spirit and not easily, very mature individuals with mental balance alone can comprehend the message in the right manner. Taking this movie in the right spirit and applying the lessons in the right way , is upto the audience. Strictly not recommended for the general audience, that too emotional youngsters like us. The director should have brought out a different theme altogether instead of making a partially inspired movie. Aamir khan was the best though, he should have seen the script a little more carefully. For the directors and makers of three idiots please think before you leap is the message, you can set a wrong example to immature audience that is watching your creation. Considering the fun and frolic , it was brilliant movie , to be taken only as a work of fiction and nothing else. The movie is to be extremely carefully interpreted. Not that the cast was not deserving, script writing and direction could have taken a brilliant turn , if essence of the story is deeply etched in the makers mind. Keep it up for the actors and needs improvement for the director, scriptwriter. It was quite obvious that the story is inspired by five point someone.
