sherlock holmes movie review
plot : set in 1891 towards the late nineteenth century with london in the picture. dr watson and shelock holmes try to stop lord blackwood from committing the murder of a girl . lord blackwood has already murdered 5 other people in the same manner. they stop him just in time with the help of the inspector lestrande.
three months later lord blackwood is sentenced to death , he wishes to meet holmes, to whom tells him about three other murders which will change the world.
at 221 baker street , holmes meets his lover and professional thief irene adler, who visits him in connection of finding out about reonard a missing man.
she then moves out of his flat , unknown to her holmes follows her and watches her meet a man who conceals himself n the carriage, reportedly being her employer. he comes to know that reonard is the key to blackwoods furnished plans.
holmes later visits the temple of four orders, it is an occult dabbing secret society . leaders of this society being lord coward and sir thomas, who persuade holes to stop blackwood a former member of the society. sir thomas and another senior official member are assassinated unfortunately under mysterious circumstances.
this paves way for blackwood to assume authority of the office of the society , with immediate effect . blackwood had wanted to retake america under the british crown , hearing that it has been weakened by the ongoing civil war.
coward issues warrant of arrest to holmes.
holmes with the knowledge that the police is in search for him goes underground, studying blackwoods plans and anticipating his other targets concludes that the next target of blackwoods notorious plan is the british parliament. he misleads coward by telling him that the next target is house of the lords.
adler, watson and holmes rush to the underground network of sewers which reportedly houses the killer machine. they fight off blackwoods men as they come across them near the machine.
the cyanide cylinders are grabbed by adler who removes them , this incapacitate the machine which reportedly releases a cyanide
derivative into the parliament in order to kill the insiders. blackwood and coward realise how meticulously their plan is foiled. coward is captures but blackwood manages to escape.
the next scene depicts adler being confronted by holes at the tower of london, but is interrupted by blackwood . holmes tricks him to being entangled in ropes and chains which leaves him hanging over the Thames. holmes recollects the technical trickery behind blackwoods magic.
a loose beam falls down from the rafter supports causing blackwood to die .
adler reveals to holmes that her secret employer is professor moriarty, warning that moriarty is as intelligent , but he is more devious than holes. he accepts the case , concluding the movie.
a mysterious end to a more mysterious beginning indeed, leaves the audience puzzled naturally involving them fully in the plot.
